Community Of Egypt

These are some pictures from The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. I origionally went to see the Anglo Mania: Tradition and Transgression in British Fashion, http://www.metmuseum.org/ but ended up in the Egyption Art area. They are so interesting to me:http://www.metmuseum.org/Works_of_Art/department.asp?dep=10
Toumb of Penerb, This is an interactive explore and learn about what I got to see in New york.
Your question was that The community of Egypt, how is it the same or different to New York?
I spent a lot of time on this question because obviously my first thought was different! Duh!! But after 3 papers and reading this friendster thing on page 149, I think they have similarities. These old stones are what the tombs were made out of. They are old and have a nostalgic quality to them a remembrance to an all but forgotten era. You could say that about places in New York. Like the Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Station, Broadway, Woolworth Building, Harlem Renaissance, Langston Hughes, and Empire State Building. These all give that same nostalgic feel when you think them. Of a certain community that flourished in its time. Of course New York is still flourishing but it has changed over time, the same is true with Egypt. What was going on then is not going on now. Maybe some traditions or some cultural themes have passed down through generations as they have in New York. For the most part, the 1920’s were left in 1920. Kings and Queens that ruled as they did in are long gone.
I just wanted to point out something that would not normally be thought of. I really would have never thought of them being similar are all. They are dissimilar in so many ways. You could say the culture, the time period, geographical location, what was going on in the history in revelation to New York at the same time if any. I could go on, but I have been writing all day;)
